What you see is not always what you get

Hello, friends and lovers of all things optometry and optimism.  Welcome back.

This post is not going to be very optometry-heavy.  I was just feeling the urge to share a quote I saw somewhere:

"Don't compare your behind-the-scenes to someone else's highlight reel."

That's great advice, huh?  We see highlight reels so often these days, don't we?  Social media thrives on them!  We get all excited about our happy times and we want to share them, right?

I don't see any problem in sharing your happy times.  But remember, people post their HAPPY STUFF on social media sites, not the sad stuff that they don't want to share with the world.

So, you're allowed to have sad days and days where you wish things turned out differently.  This is your life, live it and make the best of it.  You have so much greatness ahead of you, and you've got one heck of a highlight reel yourself!

Just my thoughts for the day!  Go out and make this an awesome day!

  1. Great post! We all need some optimism. I 'm glad its contagious. I will make sure to spread it! You remind me of my optometrist. There was never a day he wasn't happy and optimistic. I learned a lot from him. http://www.cmaxoptical.com/optometry.html

  2. This is a really positive message. I have been struggling with my eyesight lately, and it's been getting me down. Today, I'm going to hold my head up high, though!

  3. Have a good attitude about things can make getting through the more difficult times easier. I think seeing clearly is one way that I keep a positive out look on life. Being able to see what is coming can give me a little warning to prepare, literally and metaphorically.

  4. I am looking for an optometrist. My daughter is about to start kindergarten, and I want to make sure that she can read the board. Most of my relatives wear glasses, so there is a good chance that my daughter will need a pair. It is probably too early for contacts.

  5. A lot of my family wears glasses, including myself. My grandson is going to start kindergarten next year and I've noticed that he squints a lot. I'm thinking he needs to see an optometrist.

  6. You give some really sound advise. I know that judging a book by its cover is never a god thing. I think that the best way to find a good doctor is to get feedback from family and friends who have experience with a particular doctor. I need to get into an optometrist, so I better start asking around I guess!

  7. I could not agree with this more! This can relate to a very large spectrum of things. I am in the voice over industry and I always see my friends posting news about the new voice role they got in some big cartoon or something. It gets discouraging when I see where I am compared to them. I have to remember that there is a lot going on behind the scenes for them as well. While they are successful with voice over, maybe they are struggling in other areas I am completely unaware of.

  8. My wife is starting to get blurry vision and I think that she needs to go see an eye doctor. I don't think that it is anything serious, she will just need to get glasses. If she doesn't like glasses, she can always get contacts. I don't have either one, so I can't tell her which one is the better way to go. I hope that she will be able to get her vision back soon.

  10. Great article, I want to share something as well. An article taken out of the National Eye Institute website states that eye injuries are the leading cause of blindness in children in the US, and most of these injuries are sports related! I recommend protecting your little ones eyes with sport goggles, they come in prescription and non prescription!
    Sports Goggles are IN!
